Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (UIGM), through its Regional and Urban Planning (PWK) and Geomatics programs, provided technical assistance for the final draft of the Ogan Ilir Regency Disaster Management Plan (RPB) for 2025–2029 in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) on Monday (June 8)
The event, attended by a team of reviewers and stakeholders, aimed to evaluate, align policies, and refine the document to ensure it is in line with regional and national development directions. This step is crucial to ensure that the resulting legal instrument is truly ready for implementation in the field.
“This meeting will determine the document’s eligibility before it is enacted as a local regulation,” said the Chair of the Drafting Team and Head of the Urban and Regional Planning Program at UIGM, Dr. Ir. Endy Agustian, S.T., M.Eng.
This consultation, he continued, delves deeply into risk identification, regional vulnerability analysis, local capacity, mitigation strategies, and the strengthening of disaster management institutions in Ogan Ilir.
He said that the drafting of this strategic document combines a regional spatial planning approach with the use of accurate geospatial data to produce practical policies. The integration of this data is considered the key to formulating precise mapping of disaster-prone zones.
“We combine disaster analysis with regional planning to ensure the accuracy of mapping data for affected areas,” explained Endy.
In addition, he said, this RPB is projected to serve as a comprehensive guideline for strengthening disaster mitigation and adaptation in Ogan Ilir Regency. The results of this final evaluation are expected to accelerate the finalization of the document so that data-driven disaster management in Ogan Ilir can be realized immediately, thereby creating a safe and sustainable region. A robust document is expected to safeguard the community’s living environment in the future.
“This document is not merely an administrative formality, but a blueprint for the safety of Ogan Ilir residents for the next five years,” he concluded. (andhiko ta)
