Free Masks, Health Screenings, and Specialist Doctors Available on the Universitas IGM Campus

Amid the haze that continues to shroud the city of Palembang, the campus grounds of Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (IGM) were transformed into an open-air health service center on Sunday (Oct. 25).

The Universitas IGM School of Medicine organized a community service event featuring free health screenings and the distribution of medical masks to residents.

Residents who attended were able to have their blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid levels checked free of charge. These simple screenings provide a quick snapshot of one’s health, especially for those who rarely have the opportunity to get checked.

In addition, the organizers distributed free medical masks to attendees. The masks were distributed to help protect people’s respiratory systems from exposure to smoke from land and forest fires, which the community has been experiencing recently.

For residents with health concerns, free health consultations with specialists from Universitas IGM are also available. Residents are free to ask questions directly to the experts.

“This is a routine activity organized by the Faculty of Medicine at Universitas IGM. This is the third time we’ve held it in 2026,” said Dr. Yama Sirly Putri, M.Med.Sc., Sp.PK., a physician at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas IGM.

This initiative is the Faculty of Medicine at Universitas IGM way of being directly present in the community at a time when assistance is most needed. “Health is our shared responsibility, and the university wants to do its part to safeguard it,” Yama concluded. (andhiko ta)
