The Civil Engineering Program at Universitas Indo Global Mandiri Participates in Discussions on the Direction of National Civil Engineering Education at the BMPTTSSI National Conference in Bandung

The Bachelor’s Program in Civil Engineering and the Master’s Program in Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (IGM), participated in the 19th National Conference (Munas) of the Indonesian Civil Engineering Higher Education Consultative Body (BMPTTSSI) at Bale Dayang Sumbi, the Multipurpose Building of the National Institute of Technology (Itenas), Bandung, Friday (October 23, 2026).

The Munas was held in conjunction with KONTEKS 2026 and was attended by representatives of civil engineering programs from various universities across Indonesia.

At the event, Universitas IGM was represented by the Chair of the IGM University Civil Engineering Undergraduate Program, Ir. Debby Sinta Devi, S.T., M.T., and a faculty member representing the Civil Engineering Master’s Program, Dr. Ir. Revianty Nurmeyliandari, S.T., M.T., IPM, ASEAN Eng.

Both participated in a series of discussions as part of the national coordination effort for civil engineering higher education. They also met directly with program administrators from numerous universities to align their efforts.

The National Conference discussed the harmonization of curricula based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE), strengthening the quality and accreditation of study programs, updating the Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART) of BMPTTSSI, and drafting the organization’s work agenda for 2027.

The Chair of the Master’s Program in Civil Engineering at Universitas IGM, Dr. Ir. Mukhlis Nahriri Bastam, S.T., M.T., IPM, ASEAN Eng., noted that participating in the National Congress provided insights into policy developments, a forum for sharing perspectives with other program directors, and opportunities for collaboration in the fields of education, research, and community service.

For master’s students, this forum reinforces a focus on applied research and sustainable infrastructure solutions. “We hope that the inter-campus collaboration established today will pave the way for research that is truly put to use by the community,” he said.

For the undergraduate level, discussions covered strengthening the Body of Knowledge (BoK), Basic Science courses, Capstone Design, as well as the development of laboratories, lab sessions, supporting software, and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) aspects.

This harmonization is aimed at ensuring that graduates’ learning outcomes align with academic standards and professional needs. “Graduates must be ready to work in the field, and that begins with practical training and OSH that are taken seriously,” added the Chair of the Civil Engineering Undergraduate Program at Universitas IGM, Ir. Debby Sinta Devi, S.T., M.T.

The forum also highlighted graduate and vocational education. Participants discussed strengthening the curricula for master’s and doctoral programs, distinguishing between academic and research outcomes, and the interconnection between undergraduate, graduate, and vocational education. “These educational pathways must be interconnected so that our engineers’ competencies are comprehensive—ranging from scientific knowledge to professional expertise,” she concluded.
