Brief History
Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (UIGM) was officially established on May 22, 2008 based on the Decree of the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number 83/D/O/2008. UIGM was born from the merger of two well-known educational institutions in Palembang: College of Informatics and Computer Management (STMIK) IGM and College of Technology Palembang (STTP).
At the beginning of its establishment, UIGM had three main faculties:
- Faculty of Computer Science, with study programs in Informatics Engineering (S1), Information Systems (S1), Computer Engineering (D3), Informatics Management (D3), and Computerized Accounting (D3). Now, Computer Engineering has been upgraded to S1 Computer System, while Accounting Computerization has been discontinued according to the development of industry needs.
- Faculty of Engineering, which houses Civil Engineering (S1), Architecture (S1), Urban and Regional Planning (S1), and Surveying and Mapping (D3).
- Faculty of Economics, which consists of Management (S1) and Accounting (S1).
Along with the times and the dynamics of professional needs, UIGM continues to innovate and add new study programs. Currently, UIGM oversees 6 faculties and 18 active study programs, including:
- Faculty of Government and Cultural Sciences, with Government Science (S1) and Visual Communication Design (S1).
- Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, with English Education (S1).
- Faculty of Medicine, with Medical Education (S1).
STEBIS IGM which was established in 2014, which previously stood alone, is now joining the UIGM structure in 2025 and forming one Faculty and 4 study programs, including:
- Faculty Sharia Business, with Sharia Economics (S1), Sharia Banking (S1), Sharia Business Management (S1), and Sharia Economic Law (S1) Study Programs.
UIGM was established to produce graduates who are superior, adaptive, and ready to compete at the national and global levels. Educational targets are adjusted to the program level:
- Master’s Degree Program (S2): Encourage hypothesis development and scientific-based problem solving to support future professional practice.
- Undergraduate Program (S1): Equip students with the ability to analyze, develop solutions, and implement scientific-based solutions.
- Diploma IV (D4) Program: Producing professional experts with technical competence and applicative insights in their respective fields.
Duration of Study
- S2 (Master’s Degree): 4-6 semesters
- S1 (Undergraduate): 8-10 semesters
- D4 (Diploma IV): 8-10 semesters
