The atmosphere on the Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (IGM) campus felt different this Friday morning, July 3.
Instead of diving right into work, the entire IGM Foundation and University community gathered first for a group workout.

This practice stems from a direct instruction by the Rector of Universitas IGM, Dr. H. Marzuki Alie, who moved the start of the workday on Fridays forward from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
This policy applies to all staff of the IGM Foundation and Universitas IGM without exception. “I have implemented this change in start time so that there is dedicated time each week that we can truly make the most of together,” said Marzuki Alie.

That extra hour wasn’t just let slip by. In addition to exercising, the time was intentionally used to strengthen bonds among the academic community while also maintaining the physical fitness of faculty and staff. “When you’re healthy, your performance is at its best,” he said.

For Marzuki, group exercise isn’t just a workout routine. He believes this activity helps foster teamwork and communication among work units on campus, and he hopes this tradition will continue every week.
“Building relationships through exercise is also a way for us to get to know each other better—beyond just work,” he concluded. (andhiko ta)
