The Faculty of Economics at Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (UIGM) will conduct an International Community Service Program (KKN) in Medan and Samosir Island, North Sumatra.
This academic and community service program, which will take place from June 26 to 30, 2026, is designed to broaden students’ global horizons beyond the campus environment.
During their five-day stay at the site, participants are scheduled to directly engage in observing the region’s potential and interacting with the local community to apply their knowledge of economics.
During their time at the KKN site, the students will undergo a series of intensive activities, beginning with in-depth sessions from guest lectures and periodic Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). Rather than merely being listeners, students are also expected to actively present their scientific ideas through Student Presentations in front of attending external experts and practitioners.
Through this interactive method, the theoretical understanding gained in the classroom will be tested and directly aligned with the realities and dynamics unfolding in the field. These discussion forums and presentations serve as a crucial space for students to hone their critical thinking skills in solving real-world economic problems.
In addition to the academic agenda in the meeting room, this program emphasizes hands-on activities through Cultural Immersion, Field Studies, and Community Engagement. Students are also scheduled to make strategic visits to various Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and conclude the program with a Networking Session to open opportunities for long-term collaboration. This series of outdoor activities focuses on strengthening four pillars: inter-community collaboration, boundless innovation, the digital transformation of MSMEs, and sustainable development for local residents.
