UIGM’s Digital Transformation: Enhanced LMS System Improves Course Quality

Indo Global Mandiri University (IGM) is promoting the increased use of the Learning Management System (LMS) as part of its digital transformation on campus.

This initiative aims to refresh faculty members’ and educational staff’s understanding of the importance of online learning platforms in supporting the effectiveness of student learning.

Additionally, the university seeks to ensure that the entire campus educational ecosystem remains relevant to the increasingly dynamic developments in instructional technology. This step also serves as an opportunity for the campus to integrate new standards into every aspect of academic interaction between educators and students.

Vice Rector III of Indo Global Mandiri University, Dr. Tien Yustini, M.Si., stated that the concept of using an LMS is actually not new to UIGM, as this platform served as the backbone of learning during the COVID-19 pandemic several years ago. However, she acknowledged that over the past year, the use of this system had experienced a lull or was not fully utilized in certain areas.

Therefore, the reactivation of the LMS this time is being carried out with a more structured approach and is mandatory for all faculty members. The renewed emphasis on this system is expected to close the efficiency gap that had emerged during the transition period over the past year. “We must not let our existing digital infrastructure go to waste; instead, we must continue to optimize it to provide easy access for all students,” said Tien.

Under the new policy being rolled out, UIGM now requires every faculty member to design more varied learning modes through the platform. Each instructor is expected to implement at least six different learning models that have been established as the university’s quality standards. This is done to ensure that the knowledge transfer process is no longer monotonous, but rather more interactive and adaptive to students’ needs, particularly for those in the working-adult classes. With a more standardized format, it is hoped that the quality of education at UIGM can be maintained and that it will facilitate management in conducting regular monitoring and evaluation.

“The requirement to apply these six learning models is a quality standard we have established so that every lecture session maintains consistent intellectual depth and remains engaging,” he concluded. (andhiko ta)
