A delegation from the Association of Higher Education in Informatics and Computer Science (APTIKOM) of South Sumatra departed for Yogyakarta to attend the 7th APTIKOM National Conference (MUNAS) 2026 on Wednesday (October 7).

The delegation was warmly sent off in the parking lot at Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (IGM) by IGM’s Vice Rector II, Dr. Herri Setiawan.

The 7th MUNAS will take place October 8–10, 2026, hosted by Atma Jaya Yogyakarta University (UAJY) and the Sahid Raya Hotel & Convention Center. Approximately 1,500 participants from all provinces attended this quadrennial forum. The main agenda items included electing the Chairperson and Secretary-General of the APTIKOM Central Executive Board for the 2026–2030 term, formulating the direction of the national curriculum, and promoting the commercialization of research in the era of artificial intelligence.

The Chair of APTIKOM South Sumatra, Prof. Ir. Darius Antoni, S.Kom., M.M., PhD, emphasized the importance of the organization’s new direction. “The leadership transition must bring equitable quality in information technology education to the regions,” he said.

Participants from South Sumatra came from public and private universities. These included Sriwijaya University, Sriwijaya Polytechnic, Raden Fatah State Islamic University (UIN), Universitas IGM, Muhammadiyah University of Palembang, Ahmad Dahlan Muhammadiyah University, Bina Darma University, MDP University, Sjakhyakirti University, Aisyiyah University of Palembang, Palcomtech, University of South Sumatra, Musi Charitas Catholic University, and Satu University. From outside Palembang, participants included Prabumulih University, Baturaja University, Lembah Dempo University, Serelo Lahat University, Pagaralam Institute of Technology, and Bina Insan Lubuklinggau University.

“The unity of all these campuses demonstrates that South Sumatra is cohesive and ready to contribute,” said Darius.

For the record, Universitas IGM serves as the secretariat for APTIKOM South Sumatra and has four professors in the field of computer science. During the National Conference (MUNAS), participants attended eight Institutional Development Clinics covering topics such as Outcome-Based Education (OBE)-based curricula, internal quality assurance, strategies for securing research funding from BRIN and DRTPM, and preparations for IABEE international accreditation. This forum also served as a venue for the signing of MoUs and inter-institutional cooperation agreements.

“We want faculty members and academic programs to help drive change, especially in the field of technology,” he concluded. (andhiko ta)
