The Rector of Indo Global Mandiri University (IGM), Dr. H. Marzuki Alie, delivered a profound and motivational message in front of hundreds of graduates at the 22nd Open Senate Session of Indo Global Mandiri University (IGM) on Saturday (4/9).
He emphasized that this campus was built through hard work and that the alumni are clear evidence of those efforts.
“You have earned your degrees. As a form of appreciation from the university, we are proud. All degrees are proof and evidence that you have ambition, resilience, and commitment,”
Marzuki Alie highlighted the campus’ commitment to ensuring that every student can complete their studies, even in the face of financial difficulties. “I feel their pulse myself. I feel their struggle. Even if there are no funds, we will cover the costs until graduation as long as you are committed. Embrace your younger siblings as a form of your commitment,” said Marzuki Alie.
He also made a strong point that academic failure is not caused by intelligence, but by laziness. “There are no stupid students, only lazy ones. No student drops out of college except those who are afraid to face reality. No student of ours should drop out because of money. Once you enter UIGM, it is mandatory to finish,” he emphasized.
Comparing himself to a parent sending their child to a foreign land, Rector Marzuki Alie gave nine moral messages to the alumni who will enter society.
These messages emphasize the importance of integrity, ethics, and continuous learning. “Don’t forget the lecturers who have imparted their vast knowledge to you, remain humble, and continue to maintain relationships with friends (networks),” he said.
In addition, he also emphasized, “Maintain ethical values and integrity. Continue to learn (long life learning). Success is not just for yourself.” His final message was for alumni to always be grateful and not afraid of failure.
“Always be grateful for even the smallest achievements. Be patient and sincere about all failures. Never be afraid of failure. Be proud of what you have achieved and never stop learning to become yourself,” he concluded. (andhiko ta)
