Dr. Krishna Soedjitno: No Need to Fear Unemployment, Indonesia’s Domestic Market Makes the Difference

The Deputy Chair of Business Innovation Advocacy and Economic Development for the HEBITREN Islamic Boarding School Area, Dr. Krishna Soedjitno, MM, reminded attendees that the knowledge they are learning today will undergo drastic changes in the next decade.

He emphasized the need for a clear long-term vision. “Your challenges will change after graduation. Computer science will become extinct,” said Dr. Krishna during his scientific speech in front of hundreds of graduates at the 22nd Open Senate Session of Indo Global Mandiri University, Palembang, Saturday (4/9).

However, Dr. Krishna dismissed concerns about job availability for graduates.

According to him, this extinction refers to changes in the nature of work, not the disappearance of the need for talent in the field of technology. The key to success lies in the ability to adapt and develop oneself, which must begin early on.

“Don’t be afraid that you won’t be able to find a job. You must have a dream for 10 years from now, and it must start now,” he said.

Furthermore, he highlighted that Indonesia’s domestic market is a competitive advantage that distinguishes local graduates from talents from other countries. The huge domestic economic potential must be the main focus for fresh graduates who want to contribute. Utilizing technology to meet local market needs is a golden opportunity.

“Our domestic market is what sets us apart from other countries in the world. This is an advantage that you must maximize,” he concluded. (andhiko ta)
