Ready to Add 2-3 Professors, IGM University Targets All Lecturers to Have Doctorates in 5 Years

During the inauguration of Prof. Darius Antoni, S.Kom., M.M., Ph.D. as a professor, the Rector of Indo Global Mandiri University, Dr. H Marzuki Alie, MM, emphasized that IGM University aims to have all of its lecturers hold doctoral degrees.

According to him, this is part of his commitment to accelerate the educational and academic advancement of all lecturers. This step was taken as part of strategic human resource planning, which is essential in maintaining progressive standards of higher education.

In line with this vision, he continued, the IGM Foundation has established strict regulations requiring all UIGM lecturers to have a doctoral degree (S3). To support this policy, the foundation provides extensive scholarship facilities, both through government schemes, international agencies, and internal foundation assistance.

Currently, out of a total of 175 lecturers, 55 percent or around 96 people have doctoral degrees or are currently studying. With the facilities provided, financial constraints should not be a reason for lecturers not to continue their studies, either at home or abroad.

“Doctoral education is not just a formality on paper, but the main foundation for ensuring high-quality teaching and research in our campus environment,” he said.

In addition to the doctoral degree requirement, UIGM also prioritizes accelerating the academic positions of lecturers who have reached the level of Senior Lecturer to become Full Professors. Currently, there are 14 Senior Lecturers who are being encouraged to immediately fulfill the highest functional requirements.

This year, the university projects that two to three new candidates will soon follow suit in obtaining their professor titles after completing their final scientific publications. This systematic effort is expected to create a competitive academic ecosystem that is oriented toward sustainable human resource excellence.

“We consistently provide guidance and motivation so that lecturers have a high fighting spirit in achieving the pinnacle of their academic careers,” he concluded. (andhiko ta)
