Equipping Students with Research Skills, UIGM Government Science Department Holds Scientific Writing Workshop

The Government Science (IP) Study Program at Indo Global Mandiri University (IGM) held a scientific writing and thesis workshop on Monday (3/11).

This activity was specifically designed to improve the capacity of IP students who are currently working on their theses. The workshop featured a special guest speaker, Dr. Herpita Wahyuni, S.I.P., M.I.P., a 2025 UMY Doctoral graduate with in-depth expertise in research methodology and scientific writing.

The Head of the IP UIGM Study Program, Dwiki Adi Putra, S.A.P., M.Si, explained that this workshop is not a course, but a follow-up activity to the research methodology course. The aim is to provide practical guidance and tools needed by students in completing their final assignments.

“This activity will teach several important things in thesis writing, starting from analyzing scientific work items (Chapters 1 to 6), introduction to writing formats (Microsoft Word), scientific work applications (Mendeley, Zotero, SPSS, etc.), and also how to write journals,” said Dwiki.

In the workshop, Dr. Herpita Wahyuni shared tips and tricks for each stage of thesis writing, from problem formulation, theoretical framework, research methodology, data analysis, to conclusion writing. She also introduced various supporting applications that can facilitate the writing process and scientific references.

“The skills acquired are not only useful for completing studies, but also serve as important preparation for future professional careers, where critical thinking and systematic writing skills are highly sought after,” she concluded. (andhiko ta)
