The Faculty of Medicine (FK) of Indo Global Mandiri University (IGM) collaborated with the Palembang Bari Regional General Hospital Training Center to hold a Seminar on Health Scientific Writing on Friday (31/10).
This activity aims to improve the capacity of students and medical practitioners in writing high-quality scientific articles that are ready for publication.
Featuring expert speaker Dr. dr. Legiran, M.Kes, an expert with extensive experience in health research and scientific publication, participants received guidance on the scientific writing process, from the initial foundation to finalization.

He will emphasize the importance of a strong initial writing foundation, including the urgency of research and publication ethics, which are often challenges for novice writers.
The seminar material will focus on several crucial aspects of scientific writing. Participants will be taught about the initial design of scientific writing, such as effective title composition, informative abstract writing, and the selection of appropriate research methodologies. Furthermore, Dr. Legiran will discuss the composition of the content and discussion of scientific papers, ensuring a strong logical flow and argumentation.
“The foundation of initial writing, especially the urgency and ethics of publication, is the main key. Then the initial design, such as the title, abstract, and methodology, must be thoroughly prepared,” he said.

The highlight of this seminar is the finalization session for scientific papers that are ready for submission, where participants will be equipped with knowledge about reference management, citations, and draft evaluation. The presentation and review session for articles that are ready for submission will also be an important part of providing constructive feedback.
According to him, this activity is expected to increase the number and quality of scientific publications from students and medical staff, as well as strengthen the contribution of UIGM and Palembang Bari Regional General Hospital to the advancement of medical science. “We want to ensure that every participant goes home with the complete knowledge to produce scientific papers that are not only of high quality but also ready for international recognition,” he concluded.
