UIGM Completes Strategic Disaster Management Document for Ogan Ilir

Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (IGM) held a meeting to finalize the Ogan Ilir Regency Disaster Management Plan (RPB) for 2025–2029 and to sign an Implementation Agreement (IA) with the Ogan Ilir Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).

The event, which involved the Regional and Urban Planning (PWK) and Geomatics Engineering programs at UIGM, took place in the Theater Hall on the 5th floor of Campus C Sudirman on Tuesday (June 30). “This is the final draft of the RPB that we developed together with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB),” said the Chair of the Drafting Team and Head of the UIGM PWK Program, Dr. Ir. Endy Agustian, S.T., M.Eng.

The partnership also includes a student internship program with the Ogan Ilir Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), specifically focused on mapping disaster-prone areas. This collaboration between the two academic programs is expected to strengthen the region’s capacity to formulate more targeted disaster management policies. “Students will be directly involved in mapping potential disaster risks in the field alongside the BPBD,” said Endy.

The event, attended by a team of reviewers and a number of stakeholders, aimed to evaluate and align policies, as well as refine the document to ensure it is in line with regional and national development priorities. This step is considered crucial to ensure that the resulting legal instrument is truly ready for implementation in the field. “This document must be thoroughly refined before it is implemented in the community,” he said.

Endy explained that the drafting of this strategic document combines a regional spatial planning approach with the use of accurate geospatial data to produce practical policies. The integration of this data is considered key to precisely mapping disaster-prone zones. “We combine disaster analysis with regional planning to ensure the accuracy of the mapping data for affected areas,” he concluded.
