The Rector of Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (IGM), Dr H. Marzuki Alie, delivered three special messages to the graduates during the Open Senate Session for the 23rd Universitas IGM and 9th STEBIS IGM Graduation Ceremony, held on Saturday (2 May) at Graha Indo Global Mandiri (IGM) in Burlian, Palembang.
The Rector emphasised that graduation is a significant milestone with two sides. On the one hand, there is a sense of pride in having successfully guided students through their education to the final stage. On the other hand, there are concerns regarding the graduates’ readiness to enter the world of work or to create their own business opportunities.

“Universities do not merely award degrees, but also equip students with the skills to compete,” he said in front of hundreds of graduates.
The university, he explained, strives to ensure that graduates do not become part of the intellectual unemployed, but are instead able to play an active role in society.
The rector also said that the university continues to offer support to alumni facing difficulties after graduation. Alumni are welcome to return to the university to enhance their skills and competencies.
Furthermore, he noted that a number of alumni are now working in various thriving businesses under the auspices of the IGM Foundation across different regions of Indonesia.
He also conveyed three key messages to the graduates. Firstly, the importance of maintaining trust through honesty. “Trust is the primary asset in building cooperation and collaboration across various fields,” he said.
Secondly, he continued, the importance of continuous learning to enhance one’s competencies. The learning process does not end at university; rather, it must be pursued through various sources to keep pace with the times.

Thirdly, maintaining integrity in everything we do. Integrity is defined as the alignment between words and deeds, which forms the foundation of both our professional and social lives.
“If all three are put into practice, God willing, the results will be positive and optimal. Once again, congratulations to my students who have successfully completed their studies,” he concluded. (andhiko ta)
