The Prabumulih City Government hosted a meeting and presentation by Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (UIGM) to discuss opportunities for strategic partnerships in the fields of education and regional development in the Prabumulih Mayor’s Office on Thursday, May 21.
Prabumulih Deputy Mayor Franky Nasril, S.Kom., M.M., personally welcomed the UIGM delegation led by the Director of Cooperation and Internationalization, Dr. Fauzia Apriyani, S.E., M.Si., along with department heads and faculty members.

“We greatly appreciate the presence of academic institutions that are ready to collaborate for the betterment of the community,” said Franky.
During the meeting, Universitas IGM presented various flagship academic programs as well as scholarship opportunities available to the local community.
One of the main initiatives promoted was the rural youth scholarship program from the Faculty of Medicine, designed to provide access to higher education in the health field for local youth. The Prabumulih City Government views this program as aligned with the region’s vision to cultivate competent local medical professionals ready to serve in their home regions. “Special access like this is crucial so that high-achieving children from rural areas have equal opportunities to become doctors,” said Fauzia.

In addition to presenting the educational assistance program, both parties also discussed the practical implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which includes research collaboration and community service. This collaboration is expected to produce science-based approaches and solutions that the city government can directly adopt to address various regional development challenges.
“This partnership must serve as a driving force that brings concrete benefits to the well-being of residents,” he concluded. (andhiko ta)
