Strengthening Link and Match Construction, UIGM Civil Engineering Master’s Lecturers Achieve Level 3 PUPR Instructor Certification

Two lecturers from the Master’s Program in Civil Engineering at Indo Global Mandiri University (UIGM) Palembang have successfully strengthened their capacity in the national construction training world by participating in the Level 3 Construction Training Instructor Training of Trainers (ToT) program.

The program was organized by the Regional Construction Services Office II (BJKW II) Palembang, Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR), from October 29–31, 2025, at the BJKW II Palembang office.

The Head of the Civil Engineering Master’s Program at UIGM, Dr. Ir. Mukhlis Nahriri Bastam, S.T., M.T., IPM, ASEAN Eng., and Dr. Ir. Revianty Nurmeyliandari, S.T., M.T., IPM, ASEAN Eng., representing UIGM and joining approximately 30 participants from various agencies in five provinces in the Sumatra region, emphasized the strategic position of BJKW II Palembang as a hub for regional construction human resource development.

“Our presence here is a manifestation of UIGM’s commitment to being an important part of developing superior and competitive construction human resources,” said Muhlis.

This Level 3 ToT training, he continued, is specifically designed to produce professional instructor candidates who are competent in designing, delivering, and evaluating technical construction training programs. The entire training material series refers to the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) and the latest needs of the construction service industry.

During the activity, participants gained an in-depth understanding of construction sector regulations, strengthening adult training methodologies (andragogy), facilitation techniques, and quality assurance strategies. UIGM lecturers were also directed to develop systematic training plans and conduct teaching simulations (micro teaching) as part of the competency test.

“Through this training, we are prepared to produce construction trainers who truly meet the established national quality standards,” he said.

With instructor certification, lecturers are expected to be able to bring a more applicable learning approach to the classroom, enrich case studies, and bridge students with the real needs of the industry, from technical aspects, project management, to Occupational Safety and Health (OSH). This step is also in line with UIGM’s plan to establish the UIGM Professional Certification Body (LSP), where the presence of trained instructors and assessors is a key prerequisite.

“Our main goal is to ensure that UIGM graduates not only have academic degrees, but also nationally recognized professional competency certificates,” he concluded. (andhiko ta)
