The Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Student Association of Indo Global Mandiri University (IGM) held an educational seminar on Lockout Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
The event, attended by hundreds of students, taught techniques for controlling hazardous energy in industrial settings.

This seminar is part of the program’s commitment to producing ready-to-work professionals who understand strict workplace safety standards, particularly in high-risk sectors. The Head of the UIGM K3 Study Program, Avicenna, Ph.D., welcomed the students’ initiative to collaborate in organizing this scientific forum as a means of gaining practical knowledge outside of formal lecture hours.
“A deep understanding of risk management is the main foundation for every prospective K3 expert to be able to create a zero-accident work environment in the future,” said Avicenna.

One of the successful alumni of the UIGM K3 Study Program who now has a career as a practitioner, Adi Masgit Utama, S.Tr. K.K.K., explained that LOTO is a series of specific practices to isolate hazardous energy sources during machine servicing or maintenance activities.
According to him, this procedure is crucial in the oil and gas and manufacturing sectors to ensure that equipment cannot be accidentally turned on, which could injure workers. Students are encouraged to understand that lockout is the physical act of locking energy isolation devices, while tagout is the placement of warning labels so that machines are not turned back on during the repair process.

“The industrial world, especially the oil and gas sector, desperately needs human resources who not only understand the theory but also have high discipline in applying every detail of the energy lockout procedure,” he concluded. (andhiko ta)
