Photography Workshop: Bridging Students’ Interests and Talents in the Field of Visual Arts

The Photography Student Activity Unit (UKM) of Indo Global Mandiri University (UIGM) held a photography workshop targeting school students as participants.

This educational activity was held amidst the excitement of the “Distorsia” Final Project Exhibition, initiated by the Visual Communication Design (VCD) Program at IGM University, some time ago. The presence of these students aimed to introduce them to the professional visual world while providing practical basic photography techniques.

The workshop was designed to bridge the gap between students’ interests and talents in the field of visual arts and academic and industry standards. Through direct guidance from members of the Photography Student Activity Unit, participants were invited to explore camera angles and understand compositions that tell a story. This initiative also served as a creative promotional tool for the campus to showcase the quality of DKV students’ work to prospective students.

This activity is made even more special as it is held concurrently with the “Distorsia” exhibition. This exhibition features the best works of final-year DKV students at UIGM, ranging from graphic design, illustration, to art installations.

By involving high school students in workshops held within the exhibition space, participants not only learn theory but also witness the direct implementation of design and photography works within a professional exhibition ecosystem. (andhiko ta)
