Indo Global Mandiri University (IGM) lecturer Dr. Isabella, S.I.P, M.Si was a speaker at the Seminar on National Insight and Prevention of Intolerance, Radicalism, and Terrorism on Monday (9/29).
The event, which took place at the Graha Sriwijaya Building, was a collaboration between a lecturer at Indo Global Mandiri University (UIGM), who is also the Head of Research and Assessment at the South Sumatra Terrorism Prevention Coordination Forum (FKPT), Dr. Isabella, S.IP, M.Si, and the South Sumatra Regional Police’s Community Guidance Directorate. The seminar focused on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 16 on Peace and Strong Institutions.
The seminar, themed “Building a Young Generation with a Spirit of Nationalism by Strengthening Students’ National Character,” featured expert speakers and representatives from the South Sumatra Provincial Kesbangpol.
In her presentation titled “Preventing Radicalism in the Digital Age: The Strategic Role of the Younger Generation,” Isabela emphasized the need for digital literacy and strengthening national awareness as the main defenses. The presence of former terrorism convicts (napiter) also provided a direct perspective on the deradicalization process, making the discussion more interactive and demonstrating the high enthusiasm of students for this crucial issue.
“The role of students is very strategic in ensuring the continuity of a nation based on Pancasila,” she said.
The high level of enthusiasm among participants indicates a strong commitment to building synergy between academics (UIGM and Unsri), the police (Dit Binmas Polda Sumsel), and community organizations (FKPT) in creating a safe and violence-free campus environment. The seminar agreed to recommend follow-up actions in the form of workshops and the optimization of social media for a massive campaign against radical ideology, making the campus the starting point for this collective movement.
“The campus must be a zone of peace, where all differences are respected and preserved,” he concluded. (andhiko ta)
