The South Sumatra Provincial Communication and Information Agency (Diskominfo) has entered into a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (IGM) in Palembang regarding a student internship program. The agreement was signed at the Diskominfo South Sumatra office on Monday, September 7.
This collaboration focuses on implementing internship programs for students in the Faculty of Government and Cultural Studies at UIGM, as well as in other related fields within the South Sumatra Diskominfo. This partnership represents a strategic step between a government agency and a local private university to expand students’ access to work experience.
“This collaboration provides a platform for students to learn firsthand about government bureaucratic practices,” said Dr. Doris Febriyanti, M.Si., Dean of the UIGM Faculty of Government and Cultural Studies.

He said this collaboration aims to optimize the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education while improving the quality of public services. He noted that the internship program also serves as a form of academic support for the development of digital governance, or e-government, as well as the “Smart Province” concept in South Sumatra.
“Universities must play an active role in supporting the digital transformation of government, not just in producing graduates who are ready for the workforce,” he said.

Doris hopes this collaboration will provide Universitas IGM students with opportunities to gain hands-on experience within the local government bureaucracy. She believes this experience will strengthen the students’ competencies before they enter the workforce or government service. “Hands-on experience is the most practical way for students to understand government administration,” she concluded.
