Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (UIGM) participated in the Leaders Insight Business and Finance Summit Forum 2026, which took place in the Ballroom of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) on Wednesday (May 20).
This strategic event featured a lineup of keynote speakers, ranging from Universitas IGM Rector Dr. H. Marzuki Alie, Head of OJK South Sumatra Arifin Susanto, Regional CFO of Bank Syariah Indonesia Ary Yusnairy Muslim, to Chairman of the HIPMI South Sumatra Advisory Board Kgs. H. Hermansyah Mastari. The high-level forum focused on preparing business management students to face industry dynamics.

“The presence of all stakeholders here is clear evidence that the academic world and the financial sector share a common vision of fostering a new generation of resilient entrepreneurs,” said Universitas IGM Rector Dr. H. Marzuki Alie
In his presentation, he explained that the strategic partnership between the university and the South Sumatra OJK is designed to accelerate financial literacy while honing students’ practical skills in building a business. He added that the emergence of new entrepreneurs in Indonesia must essentially go through two important phases: the internalization of character within the informal family environment and the consolidation of academic knowledge within formal educational institutions.

According to him, theoretical understanding in the classroom will never be enough without early exposure to the real-world industrial ecosystem. “Formal education serves as the primary foundation for transforming students’ academic potential into ready-to-use business competencies,” he emphasized.
He outlined the vital role of the family environment as a provider of role models that shape a child’s fundamental character and early business practices. On the other hand, universities bear the responsibility of providing scientific literacy, facilitating internship programs through the triple helix collaboration concept with industry and government, and instilling sustainable motivation. This integration model is considered the most effective instrument for bridging the gap between academic theory and the realities of the workplace.

“The synergy among the three pillars—universities, corporations, and government agencies—is the primary driving force behind fostering independent young innovators,” he said.

In front of the participants, he also highlighted the phenomenon of successful global business leaders who were able to rise above economic limitations thanks to consistent self-directed learning. The majority of these world-renowned figures began their careers by working part-time to raise working capital while gaining hands-on experience before finally taking the leap to start their own companies.
“Hands-on experience in the field is the best teacher that will turn financial challenges into promising business opportunities,” he concluded. (andhiko ta)
