IGM University DKV Academics Share Digital Marketing Tips with Kemplang MSME Practitioners

Indo Global Mandiri University (UIGM) has once again demonstrated its commitment to community empowerment through outreach activities focused on packaging innovation and marketing digitalization.

This time, the target is the Maju Sejahtera Business Group, which produces kemplang in Jalan Tanjung Api-api, Tanjung Lago Village, Tanjung Lago Sub-district, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. The program aims to improve the quality of life for SME operators by leveraging digital technology.

Aji Windu Viatra, M.Sn, a lecturer in Visual Communication Design at UIGM, explained that the implementation of digital marketing is key. According to him, this is the main strategy in their community service program. “The implementation of digital marketing in this community service program typically includes training in creating promotional content, managing social media, and using marketplace platforms,” he said.

According to him, the main objective of this assistance is to build a strong local identity or brand. This will enable Tanjung Lago kemplang products to become more widely known. “The goal is to build a local identity or brand so that it becomes more widely known by the market, including introducing regional specialty products in a more modern and attractive way,” he added.

He added that the expected outcomes of this activity. He is optimistic that this program will increase the sales of local products. “The outcomes to be achieved include increased sales of local products, the formation of a strong and consistent brand, and improved digital presence of the community through social media and online platforms,” he said.

Strategically, Aji Windu Viatra views digital marketing as a tangible contribution of higher education institutions in building community capacity.
