Aiming for Excellent Accreditation, UIGM and SETARA Institute Establish Strategic Cooperation

Indo Global Mandiri University (IGM) and a leading research institute in Indonesia, SETARA Institute, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The signing was conducted directly by the Executive Director of SETARA Institute, Dr. Halili Hasan, MA, as a demonstration of commitment to collaboration. This partnership will be further developed through an Implementation Agreement (IA) by the Government Studies Program (IP) at UIGM, marking a strategic step toward achieving excellent accreditation.

The Head of the Political Science Program at UIGM, Dwiki Adi Putra, M.Si, explained that this MoU serves as a bridge to strengthen the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. Through this collaboration, the Political Science Program at UIGM will focus on research collaboration, faculty exchange (guest lecturers), and internship programs. This focus will help them meet the criteria for excellent accreditation.

“We will follow up on this MoU with an implementation agreement for overseas research, which is one of the key indicators for us to achieve excellent accreditation. We are optimistic that this collaboration will accelerate the achievement of this target,” said Dwiki.

Meanwhile, UIGM Political Science Lecturer Ihsan Yosarie, S.IP, M.IP, highlighted the importance of synergy between academia and independent research institutions. According to him, SETARA Institute, which has proven itself in the field of research, can be a strategic partner.

“We do hope to establish collaboration between the university and research institutions like SETARA Institute. This collaboration is not limited to research cooperation but also provides opportunities for knowledge exchange and involving our students,” explained Ihsan Yosarie.

Ihsan Yosarie added that a university cannot conduct research independently. Limited resources and differing focuses make collaboration with external institutions crucial. “Concretely, we have already conducted joint initiatives. Moving forward, there will be other initiatives such as public lectures and the involvement of UIGM Government Studies faculty members in various research projects conducted by SETARA Institute,” he concluded.
