Through Benchmarking in Malaysia, Universitas IGM Promotes Educational and Research Collaboration

Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (IGM) held a benchmarking and academic collaboration event at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.

This event was part of the ASEANA academic networking meeting, which was attended by participants from 20 universities. ”

Assistant Vice Chancellor of the Institute of Leadership and Development (ILD) at UiTM, Professor Dr. Yarina Ahmad, emphasized the importance of leadership development, institutional capacity building, and cross-border academic networking during her opening remarks. “A strong university is built on leaders who are willing to keep learning,” she said.

ASEANA Chair, Prof. Dr. Tulus Suryanto, emphasized the importance of cooperation among universities in Southeast Asia. UIGM also presented a session titled
“Why Cross-Border Academic Collaboration Matters,” which discussed the role of cross-border collaboration in quality, networking, and global competitiveness. “Southeast Asia has tremendous potential if its universities are willing to work together,” said Tulus.

The agenda continued with paper presentations by participants from 20 ASEANA member universities, followed by discussions and an exchange of ideas. The forum served as an opportunity to share best practices and experiences in university management, while also exploring opportunities for collaboration.

Meanwhile, Vice Rector III of Universitas Indo Global Mandiri, Dr. Tien Yustini, S.E., M.Si., stated that this visit provided insights into institutional development, leadership, international networking, and the strengthening of academic culture. Direct interaction with partners also opened avenues for collaboration in the fields of education, research, community service, and human resource development.

“The lessons we’ve taken away will be put to the test through concrete initiatives involving a number of collaborative programs between our institutions,” she concluded. (andhiko ta)
