Promoting International Research Collaboration, IGM University Presents BRIN Chemistry Expert and GEM Research Engineer

Indo Global Mandiri University (IGM) held a public lecture entitled “Exploring Chemistry Beyond Borders; International Perspectives on Research and Material Innovation” on Thursday (4/12).

According to the Head of the Chemistry Department at IGM University, Happy Bunga Nasyirahul, S.Si, M.Si, this event aimed to introduce global perspectives on challenges and opportunities in the field of chemistry, while also encouraging research collaboration at both the national and international levels.

“At the same time, it aims to inspire students to actively engage in research in the field of chemistry,” she said.

The public lecture featured two main speakers, namely Donny Marihot Siburian, S.Si, M.Eng, a Research Engineer from GEM (Shenzhen) Super Green Technology Research Institute, and Dr. Nur Ahmad, S.Pd, a Postdoctoral Researcher from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).

Both speakers presented material focused on material innovation and how chemical research today has moved beyond geographical boundaries. The presence of speakers with international and national backgrounds provided a new perspective for academics.

Offline, this activity was attended by Chemistry, Biology, and Civil Engineering students from IGM itself, as well as Chemistry students from Sriwijaya University (Unsri), UIN Raden Patah, Chemical Engineering students from Sriwijaya State Polytechnic (Polsri), and Chemistry students from PGRI University Palembang. Meanwhile, online participants included students from Bangka Belitung University (UBB), Jambi University (UNJA), Lampung University (UNILA), and UIN Raden Intan Lampung, demonstrating a wide regional coverage.

“We hope this lecture serves as a strategic initiative to ignite students’ research enthusiasm, foster collaborative networks, and mark the first step toward expanding campus research reach across Southeast Asia,” he concluded. (andhiko ta)
