A total of 45 students from the Government Studies Program at Indo Global Mandiri University (UIGM) Palembang conducted a study visit to the Public Broadcasting Agency (LPP) Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) Palembang on Tuesday (2/12).
Dr. Isabella, S.IP, M.Si, lecturer of the Government Communication course at UIGM, said that this visit was one of the direct learning methods designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of government communication practices in the workplace, particularly the role of public broadcasting institutions.

According to her, through observation and interactive discussions on site, students gained a real picture of how the broadcasting and public communication processes are carried out by a state institution.
“It is important for students to see firsthand how government communication theory operates in the field,” she said.
He said that this field study activity is highly relevant to the learning outcomes of the Government Communication Course, with its main focus being a deep understanding of the triangular relationship between the government, the media, and the public in the process of conveying information and managing public opinion.

The visit to RRI Palembang, according to him, allows students to observe firsthand how RRI functions as a public media outlet that not only provides information but also carries out the government’s communication role and organizes broadcast programs that support national development.
This learning experience also aligns with the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) approach implemented in the curriculum of the Government Studies Program at UIGM.
“This field study serves as a bridge between classroom theory and bureaucratic reality, fostering authentic critical thinking and collaboration skills,” he concluded. (andhiko ta)
