The Urban and Regional Planning Program (PWK) at the Faculty of Engineering, Indo Global Mandiri University (UIGM), conducted a Monitoring Activity for Community Service Learning (KKN) and Community Service (PKM) in Tanah Abang Sub-district, Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir (PALI) District, on August 12.
The Head of the PWK Program, Dr. Ir. Endy Agustian, S.T., M.Eng, explained that this activity is a concrete response from PWK UIGM to the needs of villages in managing data and information in an integrated, accurate, and technology-based manner to support effective and modern regional development planning.

He highlighted how this collaboration is a tangible manifestation of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which directly impacts the community. “This activity is a tangible manifestation of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly the synergy between higher education institutions and village governments to achieve integrated digital regional governance,” emphasized Endy.
During the visit to Tanah Abang Village, capacity-building sessions for village governments were presented by PWK UIGM lecturers, who provided technical and conceptual guidance. Hala Haidir, S.T., M.P.W.K., explained the concept of formulating regional profiles and maps, while Yogie Ardiwinata, S.T., M.P.W.K., presented the technical aspects of data compilation in the physical dimension. Then Herda Sabriyah Dara Kospa, S.P., M.I.L., M.Sc., explained the technical aspects of data collection and processing in the economic, social, cultural, and environmental dimensions.
Through this presentation, Endy continued, the PWK UIGM lecturers provided the theoretical knowledge that is urgently needed by village officials. “We hope that village heads and their staff can utilize the knowledge we have provided to update and manage village profiles in a sustainable manner, so that development planning can be more effective,” he said.

As part of this activity, a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was conducted involving village heads and hamlet heads from the three villages where the Community Service Program (KKN) was implemented: Tanah Abang Jaya Village, Tanah Abang Selatan Village, and Tanah Abang Utara Village.
In the FGD, each group was accompanied by a Field Supervisor (DPL) from each village. During the discussion, Endy explained, the focus was on identifying potential and issues, as well as formulating development strategies for the region using a digitalization approach. The FGD produced several strategic recommendations, such as improving the quality of village data through an integrated information system and utilizing digital maps for spatial planning. “Of course, we hope that the capacity of village governments will become stronger, and development in Tanah Abang Sub-district can be realized more effectively and evenly,” he concluded.
