A webinar initiated by Indo Global Mandiri University (UIGM) entitled “Effective Strategies for Choosing a Study Program at University” was held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, in the Third Floor Auditorium of the UIGM Campus.
During the webinar, participants discussed not only how students should approach the process and the steps they need to take but also shared tips and tricks to help prospective students fully leverage their potential while pursuing their education at the university they have chosen.
A number of competent speakers were also confirmed to participate in the webinar via the Zoom platform that had been set up.
The Public Relations Officer of Indo Global Mandiri University, Isabella, S.IP, M.Si, confirmed that her party invited the Head of the South Sumatra Education Office, Drs H Riza Pahlevi; Psychologist Reny Permataria, S.Psi, Psychologist, and the Rector of Indo Global Mandiri University (IGM), Dr H Marzuki Alie as keynote speakers.
In this webinar, she added, the aim is to guide prospective students to avoid making the wrong choice and regretting it later after selecting a particular major that does not align with their passion from the start.
She explained that, according to research by the Indonesia Career Center Network, at least 87 percent of Indonesian students are found to have chosen the wrong major. Typically, prospective students often follow their friends or are influenced by other factors.
We want to discuss this in this webinar. We need to know where our talents lie, what our abilities are, and where our passions will take us in the future. Especially if you are already in high school, you should be able to determine your direction, whether it aligns with your talents and your parents’ capabilities, he said.
He hopes that this webinar will provide knowledge to prospective students before they fully immerse themselves in the world of academic education and earn their bachelor’s degrees.
