A total of 167 students from the Faculty of Economics at Indo Global Mandiri University (UIGM) underwent a briefing for the Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKNT) 2025.
This briefing is an important provision for students before they go directly to the community, applying the knowledge gained in college for village development. This year’s KKNT will be spread across 10 villages in Sembawa District, Banyuasin, and involve international participation.
“The purpose of KKN debriefing is to provide material and input as well as insight and the village where the KKN will be carried out, there are 10 villages in Sembawa District, with 165 students,” said Head of Management Study Program as well as Chairperson of KKNT FE 2025, Mohammad Kurniawan Darmaputra, S.E., M.Si.
Interestingly, this year’s KKNT FE UIGM is divided into two categories: Local KKN and International KKN. Seven selected students will be dispatched to Malaysia for International KKN, demonstrating UIGM’s commitment to providing global experience for its students.
Meanwhile, for the local KKN, the main focus is to make a real contribution to the village, as well as a learning platform for students to socialize, interact, and implement the knowledge and skills they have acquired on campus. “There are two KKNs, Local and International KKN (7 people) in Malaysia,” Kurniawan added.
The material provided to KKN participants is very comprehensive, covering various important aspects relevant to field conditions. The materials were delivered by competent resource persons, including the Head of Sembawa Sub-District, the Head of the National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpol), and representatives from the UIGM campus itself. Topics covered included an introduction to the village, the organizational structure of the local government, and practical guidance in making reports and work programs.
“Local KKN is carried out to provide input to the village, and learning for our students at UIGM so that they can socialize and interact and apply what is on our campus, to be implemented and empowered in the village, so that what is understood and learned on campus can be implemented in the village where they KKN,” he explained.
This KKN will last for 34 days, starting on July 7 to August 11, 2025, and is one of the compulsory curriculum in the UIGM Faculty of Economics course. Through this KKN, students are expected to not only apply theory, but also develop soft skills such as leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving in a real environment. (andhiko ta)
