Prodi Occupational Health and Safety Study Program
Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is an area of science that focuses on aspects of safety and health in the workplace. The high demand for OHS (K3) graduates to support the implementation of health and safety in the workplace and the development of science and technology which has an impact on dynamic workplace conditions encourage the Universitas IGM to establish an OHS Study Programme. The K3 Study Program was established on 8 November 2018 based on the Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 958 / KPT / I / 2018 concerning Permission to Open an K3 Study Program for Applied Undergraduate Programs at Universitas IGM in Palembang City which is part of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas IGM.
FACILITIES
The Occupational Health and Safety (K3) study program is equipped with various facilities to support students' academic activities. The facilities include:

Become an Occupational Health and Safety(OHS) Study Program that produces professional and integrity Human Resources to fill and or create job opportunities.
1.Providing education that produces associate degree(D4) with strong character, integrity, quality with expertise in the Occupational Health and Safety(OHS) sector.
2. Conducting research that supports the development and advancement of science and technology in the Occupational Health and Safety(OHS) sector.
3. Providing and implementing science and technology in the Occupational Health and Safety(OHS) sector to local, national and international communities by involving students, academics and stakeholders.
4. Communicating and collaborating with stakeholders including professional organizations in the Occupational Health and Safety(OHS) sector in the implementation of the three pillars of higher education and the development of the teaching and learning process system.
Graduates of the OHS study program can carry out inspections and tests based on statutory regulations and under applicable national and international OHS standards.
Learning in vocational education (D4) is carried out in the form of 60% practice and 40% theory. Occupational Health and Safety students will carry out Professional placement(PKL) directly in various industries. Applicative learning prepares graduates who have the skills and can apply the OHS management system in the workplace.
Job Opportunities Abound
In accordance with the mandate of Law No. 13 of 2003 on Manpower (Article 86), which stipulates that every worker has the right to protection for occupational safety and health, and Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012 on Occupational Safety and Health Management System (Article 5), which mandates every company to implement this system, Occupational Health and Safety (K3) graduates have vast job opportunities across various industries.
Applicability
D4 K3 students will undergo direct field work practice (internship) in diverse industries. The curriculum emphasizes practical learning to prepare graduates with skills to effectively apply occupational health and safety management systems in the workplace.
