Selasa, 01 Oktober 2024
The development of human capital in the medical field has become a pillars of educational progress in South Sumatra. This initiative aligns with the government's vision and mission of focusing on public health, aiming to create a healthy and high-quality generation.
The establishment of the Faculty of Medicine at Universitas IGM has made this goal more tangible and purposeful.
Zulkarnain, SP, MM, Assistant III of the South Sumatra Provincial Secretariat, expressed his appreciation for the opening of the Faculty of Medicine Universitas IGM. He noted that this is a significant challenge, requiring substantial investment, adequate educational facilities, and resources.
The establishment of this faculty is expected to meet the demand for medical personnel, especially in areas that still lack doctors, such as districts without specialist doctors.
Data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health shows that Indonesia still faces a shortage of doctors. In this context, the Faculty of Medicine at Universitas IGM is expected to make a significant contribution to addressing this issue. Zulkarnain's appreciation not only refers to the establishment of the faculty, but also to the dedication and cooperation that has been established, which is expected to bring great benefits to public health.
However, there remain challenges concerning the disposition of the doctor personnel. One proposed solution is the implementation of a mandatory service agreements, where graduates from the faculty are required to serve in specific areas for a certain period.
He believes that this step can help meet the need for doctors in various regions. The process of opening a medical faculty is not easy. Completing medical education standards and national accreditation is a step that requires full support from the government and the community. Therefore, collaboration between all parties is essential to create a quality learning environment and optimal healthcare services.
With the existence of the Faculty of Medicine at Universitas IGM, South Sumatra not only focus on increasing the number of healthcare workers but also to ensure that the public receives good healthcare services. This is a significant step towards a healthier and more prosperous future for all people of South Sumatra. (andhiko ta/dzulfiqor ammar)
