Senin, 26 Agustus 2024
A team from Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (IGM) has conducted a community service programme (PKM) in Tebing Gerinting Selatan Village, Ogan Ilir Regency. As part of a Community-Based Empowerment (PBM) programme, professional lecturers from IGM have partnered with local community to maximise the utilisation of fish skin waste, transforming it into a high-value economic product.
The Head of the PKM Team of Indo Global Mandiri University, Aji Windu Viatra, M.Sn, explained that the PBM team from UIGM and Tebing Gerinting Selatan Village have established a collaborative agreement to implement several initiatives. These include partnering with the PKK Bangkit Bersama organisation from Tebing Gerinting Village and local residents engaged in productive enterprises.
The PBM initiative provides training on the production of fish skin crackers. The PKM UIGM team acts as technical facilitators in the production process, having gained expertise during their participation in the Fish Skin Cracker Processing Training, which was part of the Community Independence Programme organised by PKK Bangkit Bersama in 2024.
Additionally, the team offers training in branding and packaging design, aiming to create a unique local identity for the fish skin crackers, enhancing the products visual appeal and market value.
"We also provide financial management training, presented by Kgs M Nurkholis, S.E., M.E., a lecturer in economics at UIGM," Aji added, considering the importance of this training for the community. He noted that there are still many misconceptions in financial management that could lead to losses for village enterprises. The training covers practical aspects such as financial reporting, capital budgeting, productivity assessment, and asset valuation.
To further optimal results, Universitas IGM has also provided digital marketing training, led by Nining Ariati, M.Kom, enabling the villages enterprises to expand their market beyond local boundaries to Palembang and potentially nationwide. "Digital marketing can help open new markets that were previously inaccessible due to limitations in time, communication methods, or distance," Aji concluded. (andhiko ta/dzulfiqor ammar)
