The Indonesian Ministry of Finance, through the Directorate General of Taxes of South Sumatra and Bangka Belitung Islands, Palembang Ilir Timur Primary Tax Service Office, visited Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (IGM) Thursday (21/9/2023).

DJP invites Universitas IGM students to get involved in campaign and learn more about taxes. The 2023 Talking Tax program campaign is carried out throughout Indonesia synchronously to elementary level schools (SD), middle level (SMP), high school level (SMA), and universities (PT).

Adityawarman, Executive Head of the DJP Office of Palembang Ilir Timur, said that the activity called Tax Awareness, Proof of Caring for the Country, and the tagline Taxes Speak 2023: A Day of Knowing, Forever Proud is carried out to encourage the younger generation to build a tax-conscious culture.

He said this tax-conscious culture must be introduced early to build the character of the nation's generation who love and care for the country through awareness of taxation rights and obligations.

He considered the role of tax as the foundation of state revenue with a contribution of 80 per cent in the State Budget (APBN). This proves that taxes play an important role in financing various sectors such as infrastructure development such as schools, hospitals, roads and bridges, education funds, and others.
