Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (UIGM) recently held its XXth graduation ceremony at Graha IGM Hall, Palembang, Saturday (7/12). As many as 467 graduates were officially confirmed in an open senate session witnessed by thousands of family members.
With the theme Great Generation Moving Forward with Innovation and Collaboration, the ceremony presented inspirational remarks from SOE Minister Erick Thohir through Zoom and UIGM Rector Marzuki Alie.
SOE Minister Erick Thohir, in his remarks, appreciated UIGM for its contribution to raising an innovative young generation. Congratulations to the 467 graduates. May you contribute to yourself, family, nation and state, he remarked.
His remarks highlight the important role of the younger generation in contributing to national economic growth, which is currently stable at an average of 5 per cent. According to him, with the optimism of the current administration, Indonesia has the opportunity to become the world's 4th or 5th largest economy by 2045.
In realisation of this vision, Erick invites graduates to master three key skills: Emotional Skills, Digital Skills, and Business Management Skills. Don't just look at someone's success, but learn how they deal with failure. The future of the nation is in your hands, he said.
The graduation ceremony was closed with Erick's remarks to keep innovating and collaborating. Be a great generation who is capable of creating a future full of innovation and collaboration, he said.
Meanwhile, UIGM Rector Marzuki Alie in his remarks underlined the importance of ethics and morals in reaching success. Our nation's main problem is not an energy or food crisis, but a moral crisis. Be like a rice, the riper the rice, the more deeply it bows, he said.
He took President Prabowo Subianto's courage in dealing with failure as an example. If you fail, get up. Like Pak Prabowo, who failed four times to run for president, but finally succeeded on the fifth occasion, he concluded. (andhiko ta/dzulfiqor ammar)
