Indo Global Mandiri University Geomatics Engineering Study Program (IGM) initiated the Geomatics Talk (BEO) Series # 2 entitled The Role of Geodesy Geomatics in the Coal Mining Sector.
Presenting competent speakers in their fields, namely the Survey Section Head of PT Antang Gunung Meratus (Baramuli Group) Ir. Hardy Suparmanto, S.T., IPP, and Indo Global Mandiri University Geomatics Engineering Lecturer Johan Ariyantoni, S.T., M.Eng this activity was interesting and exciting.

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Indo Global Mandiri University, Dr. Eng. Utari Sriwijaya Minaka, S.T., M.Eng, assessed that this event aims to provide students with a deep understanding of geodesy and geomatics in the mining sector. This activity is the right place for students to gain knowledge about geodesy directly from the field, she said. According to him, through direct experience from practitioners, students can gain broader insights.
In addition, he continued, this kind of activity opens opportunities for students to learn various disciplines related to geomatics. Not only geodesy, they can also understand other aspects such as topography, mapping, and modern surveying technology, he said with optimism. This is expected to improve students' competence in the world of work.

Ir. Hardy Suparmanto as the main speaker explained the importance of data accuracy in the mining sector. Errors in surveying can be fatal to mining operations. Therefore, geomatics professionals must have high expertise and a good understanding of field conditions, he emphasized. He also shared his experiences on the challenges often faced in the field, including difficult geographical conditions. (andhiko ta/sapta mh)
